Town Star Common Ground World mode goes live
Algorand, Hedera, Web3 gaming and other crypto news
What’s up guys? I didn’t think I would be talking about Town Star’s newest game mode or the rebrand so quickly, but here we are. So let’s dig in.
Town Star new game mode goes live
Town Star in an AMA two weeks ago announced it would be releasing a new game mode and rebranding. Called Common Ground, it’s meant to match with a Gala Film release of the same name. By the way, that’s what the whole game is going to be called now (I’m not calling it that) as the game rebrands. The new simplified mode is meant to be casual in order to bring in new players who might, somehow, come there from the film.
That was less than two weeks prior to this writing, and already the game mode is live. (But they can’t fix bugs that have persisted for months!) Here are my observations:
I like the game mode. It’s a unique challenge in that you start out with a 5x5 grid that’s open , a farmer, a silo and a builder, and that’s about it. There’s no gas, no hourly cost, and everything takes a really long time to craft. The challenge is that in this limited environment, you have to earn $25,000 to clear additional square to grow your town. (More for the ones with dead trees.)
I doubt it will attract new players. It’s incredibly slow, making regular Town Star look like a rollercoaster ride on aderall. I can’t see someone new sitting down, doing the one or two things you can do in the beginning, and then sitting there for 15 minutes while things craft and saying “wow, this game is great!”
I hate the rebrand, and I am not calling it that.
Algorand news
Folks Finance will now use Chainlink’s Cross-Chain interoperability protocol in order to offer cross-chain services on the Folks Finance platform. It will operate through a spoke and hub network. Folks chose Chainlink because it’s the leader in security and reliability. What does all that mean? It means Folks’ upcoming dapp product will offer seamless cross chain function, without you having to do it manually.
Fracctal Monsters has a new game mode in the works. The web3 game features a way to battle your monsters Smash Brothers style on the games dapp. Fracctal Monsters is kind of a cross between Pokemon and Tamagotchi, except the critters are NFTs. The game has proven to be one the wins in Algorand’s gaming arena.
USDC transactions on Algorand surpass 14 million.
FAME token is now fully decentralized.
Hedera news
Hedera has partnered with Allcot, a project hub helping facilitate carbon credits for those projects. That’s going to mean a metric heck-ton of transactions operating on the Hedera Hashgraph network. That’s 500 million tons of carbon credits, and each will be a token operating on the Hedera Hashgraph network. And here is what Crypto news had to say about it.
Vavel games’s Hedera-based MMO Imperium: Galactic War goes live with its closed Alpha launching on Sept. 29. And this trailer looks darned impressive.
Twigital looks darned impressive as an application that prevents against counterfeit. How? Each authentic item will have a unique fingerprint an 3D receipt. And it’s built on the Hedera Hashgraph. The launch is slated for November, according to an announcement in discord.
Is cryptocurrency about to explode?
Is cryptocurrency about to explode? Altcoin Daily seems to think so, with the first positive September in quite some time (2016). Positive Septembers have led to the following months to be positive every single time. So here is hoping!
Algorand and HBAR liquidity mining experiment
Let’s break down the liquidity mining experiment results over the course of September! Remember, we started with $100 into three Algorand DeFI protocols and added HBAR’s Saucerswap later on. We also set a control group of $100 worth of Algorand and Bitcoin to compare. I post these weekly on the community tab in my YouTube channel but now make a video on them once per month. Also, I’m missing a week in my chart! That’s something I will have to address coming up.
Anyway, thanks for reading! Be sure to check out the livestream Monday at 12:30 pm CST!
